Leon Window, the Abergavenny based racing driver and managing director of Select Security, is celebrating a successful weekend at Brands Hatch, having secured first place in the Mini SE7EN Dunlop ‘0’ Cup. The ‘0’ Cup consists of three races, which were held over a single weekend (18/19th November), with a race on Saturday and two races on Sunday.
Leon drove through treacherous weather conditions to secure a 2nd and 1st place finish in the first two races. This meant that it all came down to the last race, which Leon won in a thrilling finish, narrowly beating Duncan Emmett into second place by a tenth of a second; one of the closest finishes of the season. The Dunlop ‘0’ Cup is a popular winter event, with the winner also earning the right to use the prestigious number ‘zero’ on their car for the following season. Commenting on the victory, Leon said: “Having won the Novice Championship last season, I knew that this year would be tough. I am thrilled to have won the Dunlop ‘0’ Cup and reward the guys at SMG Motorsport who have put so much time and effort into developing the car.
“As the driver who has scored the most point at Brands Hatch this year, I have also been fortunate enough to win The Sevenoaks Cup. None of this would have been possible without the support of our fantastic sponsors, including Henry Howard Finance of Newport, Klein Tools of Torfaen, Standard Signs of Newport, Select Security and Infinite Security.”
